Kathy's Beginning/Intermediate Orienteering
at Alaska Pacific University
Tuesday's results May 18, 1999

Families and competitive orienteers came out for the 
sunny, warm spring weather and the first Anchorage meet 
of the season. 153 people attended the meet. Special 
participants were members of the Anchorage canine 
search and rescue club. Nesting geese and ducks, tent 
camps, moose and the return of the famous attacking 
goshawk combined to make an interesting evening. The 
meet was also the second day of orienteering training 
for beginners. In-house map reading and compass skills 
training was held by Dick Hawkins Monday at REI.

Kathy Means, meet director, thanks the following for 
their assistance with setting and cleaning up, bringing 
snacks, answering questions, collecting registrations 
and meet fees, timing the starts and finishes, and
