Dan and John’s Orienteering Meet, July 13, 1999, Service High School and Bicenntennial Park

Warm, sunny weather and promise of few bugs brought out over 110 people. Some entered as teams, others as individuals. 55 of the 70 entries finished.

The Red Course consisted of 10 controls and a distance of 7.5 km; the Orange Course, 7 controls and 5 km; the Yellow Course, 7 controls and 3.5 km; and the White Course, 6 controls and 2.4 km.

The courses were not particularly long, but due to difficult terrain and perhaps one or two controls misplaced or not labeled correctly, there were some non-finishers. Of mention are the two brown bears encountered by Dick Hawkins, one of which gave him a charge (literally).
